Another week rolls on…

Up and down like a yoyo at the moment really. Not sure what to do…

I’ve got a real bastard of a flu which won’t seem to go away – for 10 days now I’ve had a head cold and been coughing my lungs up. On the positive side of that, I haven’t had a smoke for a week now – so it seems like I’ve kicked the habit again, at least for a while (last time I was off them for 18 months or so, hopefully this time it’ll be permanent).

Had a really crap day at work yesterday. One of the guys who I work with resigned – he’ll be sorely missed. Then I spent an hour with another staff member who seems firmly of the opinion that I should move on to somewhere else. It’s funny how everyone thinks they can do your job better than you when they’re looking from the outside and they’ve never been there (funnily enough, I used to think that too. Then I got a promotion and realised it wasn’t as easy or as fun as it looked!).

Last night I was EXTREMELY close to crawling into the bottom of a bottle and not coming out again. But then today, after a good night’s sleep and a bit more perspective, things were great. Had one on one meetings with all the staff (including our Assistant Manager who is a part of the problem with morale – she’s so easygoing everyone thinks they’d rather have her as a boss than me – she makes me look bad! But that’s OK so long as we work together to achieve the same goals) – and I felt that they were really positive. It seemed like everyone was being very supportive.

Plus I also interviewed a replacement for the guy that left – someone who has worked for our company in another store in the past (so she should only need minimal training) and who seems to be a great fit for the team. All things going to plan, there should be some good things happening in the future.

On top of that – the car is due to go to the panel beaters on Thursday – at long last! It’s getting a new rear bumper bar (to replace the bumperettes) and getting the tailgate fixed properly where I dinged it a few weeks ago. I’m very, very excited – the only thing is, 6 days without it – but it’s worth it.

Oh, and in case nobody has seen the latest ute, here is a picture. Once the bodywork is sorted, I’ll need to sate my appetite for more power, so I’m planning on taking it to Melbourne for a proper tune, an aftermarket cam and a bit of headwork – it’ll also need a stronger clutch to cope with all that… not to mention I’ve been waiting for a taller ratio diff centre to arrive and be fitted for about 6 or 8 weeks now and I’m just about to go and buy it from someone else.

Anyway, this is the beast – enjoy 🙂
